    Taiwan Resident Visa Information for Foreigners

    Many Filipino people have been seeking greener pasture in other countries for a short period of time. However, there are some Filipinos who wish to live in other countries for certain reasons like they’ve come to like the place or when their long-time plans have changed for the better. If you’re one of those people who decided to settle in other Asian nations, specifically Taiwan, then you need to apply for a resident visa.

    These details will be of great help in your application:

    Resident visas are issued to applicants who wish to stay in Taiwan for more than six months.
    Here are some of the valid reasons that will qualify an applicant for a resident visa:

    a. Joining family-friendly
    b. Study or have a research
    c. Employment
    d. Business investment
    e. Medical treatment
    f. Missionary work
    g. Other legitimate activities

    Once you’ve arrived in Taiwan, you have to file an application for an A.R.C. Card within the first 15 days of your stay.

    Meanwhile, here are some of the requirements in applying for a resident visa:

    Make sure that your passport is valid for six months of more.

    You must fill-out a visa application form. There are downloadable .pdf files of these forms on some third party websites online.

    You must have at least one colored photograph that was taken within the last 6 months.

    Secure necessary documents and and letter of approval for verification (e.g. letter employment authorization).

    Bring other relevant documents such as birth certificate, proof of residence NBI clearance etc.

    On some cases, one can get a resident visa without having to leave Taiwan. That’s if he or she has completed and was approved for the Employment-based visa.

    On the other hand, the case mentioned above is not applicable on blue collar foreign workers who were able to enter Taiwan using landing visas or in the consideration of visa-exemption program.

    When applying for a resident visa, make sure you have an extra money for other fees, extra ID, extra photos and multiple copies of your documents.

    Here are the fees for a resident visa:

    Single Entry Resident Visa costs NT$2,200 (per application) if filed in the ROC. Have in mind that there will be an additional charge of US$66 if the application was filed at a Taiwan Office overseas.

    Multiple Entry Resident Visa costs NT$4,00 (per application) of filed for in the ROC. Take note that there will be an additional fee of US$132 if the application was filed for at a Taiwan Office overseas.

    There will be an additional fee of NT$800 or US$24 on filed applications for resident visas upon arrival at the ports of entry in the ROC.

    Take note that application fees are non-refundable should the Visa application is denied. The same rule applies on invalidated or canceled visas.

    There will be a 50% additional charge for rush handling. This depends on the visa applied for.

    There will be an additional fee of NT$800 or US$24 on filed applications by “visitor visa” holders if they are applying for a resident visa. Take note that the application should be made in the ROC.
